I know that all of our hearts have been heavy for the people of Haiti
Every time I look at my kids, I imagine them wandering amidst devastation and destruction.
homeless
possibly orphaned
and I can't help but pray in earnest for the people who are, no doubt, in the midst of the worst thing they will ever experience
And, although I know prayer is one of the most important things we can do
I also know that at times it needs to be put into action
So, the other night, when my kids were telling me about what they know about the earthquake and the commercials they have seen about the Red Cross and how much they wanted to give money to them....
a plan developed
We are going to have a Hot Chocolate Stand for Haiti
All the proceeds will go to the Haiti Relief and Development Fund
And as excited as I am that they want to do this
I think we can do more than raise money from our little sidewalk
I want my kids to see first hand what happens when people join together and TAKE CARE OF OTHERS
So, I am asking you to help
There are three ways you can:
1. Have your own Hot Chocolate Stand
It doesn't need to be big or fancy, just stand in your yard, selling Hot Chocolate.
Just make sure its made known that the money is for the Haiti Relief and Development Fund!
(if you want to hand out fliers advertising your stand, email me at hotchocolateforhaiti@live.com and I will send you the ones we are using!)
2. Donate money
You can send money my way made payable to the Red Cross so it can all be submitted at once, or you can send it to them yourselves (if you don't mind emailing me at hotchocolateforhaiti@live.com with your donation amount that would be amazing. I want to keep a tally of how much money is raised!)
3. Advertise this on YOUR blog
Please take the header here and put it on your blog...just make sure to link people to this post so they know what is going on! Make sure to add yourself to the Mck Linky!!
LETS MAKE THIS BIG!! I have an amazing group of readers....with HUGE hearts (that I have experienced FIRST HAND!)
Lets show the world how BIG the blogging community is and how it can be used to reach into the lives of those we don't know but are in desperate need of help!
THANK YOU!!

Hey Miss, I did the mclinky thing, but nothing showed up...what's the code for the graphics and how can we get the money to you?
Jess
Perhaps you will grow by exercising your imagination a bit more.
Richard, I am not sure what your comment means?

What an awesome idea for your kids! My dad and 13yr old son returned from Haiti 1 week before the earthquake hit....makes the trip even more real to Isaac now...he is worried about the people that he met there. Makes us realize that we take so much for granted and we have so much to be grateful for here. Our prayers continue to be with the people of Haiti!
Blessings, Kristin
